Europe with New Friends

This past weekend was a lot more laid back then previous weekends.  Although it was good I'm looking forward to doing more serious traveling next weekend.

Saturday I was picked up by 3 other au pairs and we drove.... so nice not to have to take public transportation this weekend!  We drove down the Mosel Valley (the border between Luxembourg and Germany).  It was beautiful.  The river was nice to look at and the leaves are starting to change!  We drove about an hour into Germany to Bernkastel.  It was a lovely little town.  We walked around and then had lunch.  Did some more walking (ha!) and ate some ice cream! (anyone else seeing a pattern here?)  The weather was beautiful! Overall it was a good day! But I thought after Cologne, I was done with Germany... oh well. Next weekend will be a different country all together!

aka Puntenschnitzel and Pom Frites)

Sabina - Anna (and little Anna)

After some ice cream and a few last stops (one for a pretzel of course) we drove back to Luxembourg.  That night I attended a "Pink Party" with AnneMarie and Michael.  It was a fundraiser for Breast Cancer.  It was nice of them to include me on a night out.  Conversation was great over dinner! I enjoyed the evening immensely.

Sunday was my turn to drive! YAY! I took Francesca with me because Anna was bringing her little 4 year old girl as well.  Francesca and I went and picked up Anna and little Anna and then Sabina.  We all piled in the car and headed to the annual nut festival in Vianden. Luxembourg.  It was a beautiful drive through Luxembourg.  Apparently the nut festival really is something because EVERYONE was there! Wow was it crowded!  We made our way through and looked at all the tents set up with things to buy... all having to do with nuts of course. And really only one nut... the walnut.  We decided on paninis for lunch.  I bought a big loaf of bread to bring back to the house.  Other than that there really wasn't too much that I wanted to buy.  I did however grab a Nutella filled crepe for dessert! Yum! After walking around for awhile and dealing with the crowd we decided to head back.  The girls were getting tired too.  Francesca fell asleep in the car on the way back but I think she had a great time.

Last night I pretty much didn't do much of anything.  I returned a few emails, had "church" aka watched a podcast from Windsor (so blessed to have those), and talked to my parents on Skype.  Skype has to be the BEST invention ever.
